2020.08.05 // A Summer Inside

This year has been a whirlwind of change for all of us, and it doesn't appear to be ending anytime soon. What better time to make some new music?

Personally, we've taken some time to make some massive adjustments and upgrades to the control room, most notably a new hand-built desk. We've had the vision for this desk for a long time, and since the pre-built desks are obscenely priced, we decided to take on building it in-house. The end result of 30+ hours of prep, cutting, sanding, staining, finishing, and construction looks fantastic! We'll be updating things around the site as well as adding new photos to the gallery in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!

Project wise, we'll be taking some time to wrap up new music from a number of bands we've been in production with all year, and we've got a few new projects coming in with JC Machado, Life in Discord, and If Only!

We're looking forward to coming out of this with more enthusiasm and vibe than ever, so if you're looking for a great place to make some music with a low-pressure atmosphere and the same gear you'd find in any pro-level studio, look no further! :)

2020.06.04 // When The World Gets Weird

Take your music and get weirder still, right?
(Coincidentally, that's the name of our wifi at the studio.)

Anyway, the world is still very unpredictable and chaotic these days. Through everything happening, we've been trying to do what we do best: make music with good people who love to do exactly that. We're still very much in near-full isolation and sanitizing modes, and that likely won't stop any time soon.

Lately, we've been working on finishing up a few remaining active projects with Lexington Field, Theosis, The Danger Field, and The Industry!

We're also kicking off new projects with Aaron Roberts, Tony Jaw (of Never Say Die), and If Only this month. We're excited to keep things rolling and to try and work towards bettering our facility and craft to continue to serve San Diego artists! We absolutely love what we do and are thankful to be doing it in one of the nicest places on the planet.

Gear wise, we've added an extremely powerful and versatile load box to our collection in the Two Notes Torpedo Studio. Cabinet simulation at 96k with amps up to 150w supported? Sign us up. We also added a couple new effects to the collection with a Limited Edition Walrus Audio Slo and a KMA Effects Cirrus - both powerful reverb machines with a boatload of unique goodness!

As always, get in touch and let's make some music together!

2020.04.01 // Quarantine Guidelines & Scheduling

That title feels almost surreal. We wish it were an April Fools joke, but here we are.

As you're likely well aware, we're in the midst of a global pandemic, and businesses all around the country (and planet) are basically at a stand still. Here's what that means for us:

1) Yes, we're still booking sessions if you're feeling up to it. We're being militant with disinfectant on all surfaces, microphone grilles, and pop screens, and none of us leave the studio to begin with, let alone during all of this.

2) We're asking all incoming artists and musicians to be extra selective about when they come in. If you're feeling the least bit sick or off, please don't hesitate to call in and re-schedule for the next available day. One of us sick can lead to a lot more collateral damage that we'd all like to avoid.

3) While we're not asking you to wear a mask for the entirety of your visit, if you're not tracking vocals or guitar, a mask is recommended to minimize any possible contaminants. Hand sanitizer is available and our restrooms are well-stocked to ensure peak cleanliness. Please take full advantage of that.

4) Instruments: For the time being, every session using in-house gear is being treated with a little extra caution. Pianos and synths are being wiped down after sessions. Guitars are re-strung for every session already, but are now being given the extra wipe down to ensure there are no surface germs. We're very invested in keeping everyone in the studio clean and healthy.

If you're not comfortable coming in during the quarantine, that's okay! We understand entirely and want you to be in the right head space for your sessions. Communication is key to make sure we're all doing good!

Above all, please stay safe and healthy! We want to keep making music with all of you! :)

2020.02.14 // February is for Music Lovers

Whoa! We are rolling right on through the first months of this year, and our schedule is slammed!

This month we've got Lexington Field, Never Say Die, and Theosis wrapping up tracking on their new EPs, and we've moved into the mix-stage with full-lengths from Monarch and The Danger Field! We'll be kicking off a new full-length with The Industry too! Stay tuned for all of that!

Gear wise, we have a couple new pedal additions! We snagged one of the limited edition Earthquaker Life pedals, an octave fuzz that is crazy versatile even in non-fuzz situations (this one surprised us a lot!) and grabbed a crazy reverb machine called The Kaleidoscope from JPTR FX all the way in Germany. These two pedals alone can take your sound to the moon and back, complete with atmospheric ascension and re-entry disintegration. The possibilities are endless!

We've got limited availability in March, but we're currently wide open in April and May, so let's get your next project on the books and start working on that pre-production! Head over to our contact page to make it happen!

2020.01.10 // Twenty Twenty

Whoa! Last year went by way too fast! Clarity has been crazy busy!

We're excited to keep up the momentum from the last few years into a crazy new decade of gear, sounds, and dumb jokes. We've been fortunate to see continued growth and work with amazing people, and we're not slowing down any time soon!

2020 is already proving to be a wild ride with releases from Lost Dakota, If Only, Johan Malo, Wes Maharas, and Sleep On Itthis month!

We're wrapping up production with Monarch and The Danger Field, continuing to crush through a crazy EP with Theosis, and kicking off new projects with Lexington Field and Never Say Die!

We've also added a couple new pieces to the collection in the last couple months. Most notably a 2001 Mesa Boogie Single Rectifier that is LOUD, as well as a pair of Marshall Origin 2x12s that we'll be breaking in quickly. Pedal wise, we've picked up the Boss SY-1 Synth pedal, which is an absolute monster tonally and added a pair of Digitech pedals based on the Whammy! Keep your eyes glued to the gear page to find new additions as we add them! :)

Anyway, welcome to 2020 and we're looking forward to working with YOU! Swing by our contact page if you're looking to book time and get to work on some new tunes!

2019.11.03 // Holiday Madness

The last few months blew right by as we've been unbelievably busy!

In the midst of our insane schedule, we've added a ton of effects options, including pedals from Walrus Audio, Old Blood Noise Effects, JHS Pedals, TC Electronic, Electro Harmonix, and Mr. Black Pedals. The variety continues to grow and become borderline overwhelming! (Like that's a problem?)

We've added two new synths from Behringer, including a Mini Moog clone that is very impressive, as well as a new synth from Korg, and we've upgraded our intonation arsenal with a set of fret-working tools from Stewart Mac and a trio of VERY accurate Peterson Strobe tuners. Your guitars will shine even if you don't have an Evertune bridge installed. ;)

Musically since our last update, releases from The Industry, Hollow Kings, Barbaroi, Sleep On It, and Retra have officially made their way into the world!

As we head into the winter months in sunny San Diego, we close out the year with temperatures in the 80's and an equally packed house! We're mid-production with new music from Monarch, Lexington Field, Johan Malo, The Naked I, and The Danger Field!

New music from If Only, Lost Dakota, and Wes Maharas is wrapped up and headed for the release in the coming months!

Finally, this month we kick off production with Imagery Machine, Theosis, and Heartbreak, Etc.! To say we're in the thick is a massive understatement. We are booked into 2020!

All of this ridiculousness aside, we're happy to take on new work in the new year, and we're being booked months in advance at the moment, so get in touch ASAP and let's get you on the books! :)

2019.07.12 // San Diego Summer

We're entering the Summer months here at Clarity, and things are hotter than ever.

First things first, we've added several new pedal options to the arsenal, mainly in the form of reverb and modulation effects! New selections from Walrus Audio, Old Blood Noise, TC Electronic, and JHS Pedals are available for your tone shaping enjoyment.

We also added an Evertune-equipped ESP LTD TE-1000 and a Fender Jazzmaster to the racks of our ever-expanding collection. First Jazzmaster, and it may start a new collection trend. Who knows!

In the studio at the moment, we're wrapping up two full-lengths with Barbaroi and Wes Maharas, we're laying down the last few tracking sessions for the Monarch full-length, and we're also completely wrapped up with EPs from If Only and Hollow Kings as well as a handful of singles that are hitting the interwebs in the coming weeks! It's been a VERY productive couple months!

In August, we'll be kicking off new projects with Lost Dakota, Johan Malo, and James Fisher (on his yet-to-be-named prog-ish project)!

Let's not stop there. Contact us to hit the studio and get weird with us.

2019.05.21 // Staying Hot

In early April, we scheduled a couple days of "downtime" to do some massive work to our live area. The resulting remodel has nearly doubled our space the completely overhauled look feels incredible and cohesive with our upgraded control room. Stop by and check it out!

Since then, we've been virtually non-stop with a ton of great new artists.

This month, releases from Jeffrey Lee and Fear the Lions have made their way into the world, we're currently wrapping up releases with The Industry, Retra, Barbaroi, and Hollow Kings!

We've just started work on If Only's debut EP and Monarch's second full-length album!

Next month we'll be kicking off with new music from Cody Zervas, Imagery Machine (they're back!), Future Human, and another batch of songs with Barbaroi.

Booking is in full-effect for July, August, and beyond! Let's make some noise together! :)

Reviews of Our Work
"Sean does great things! He was very helpful in the studio. My band traveled from Arizona to record with him. He was super flexible with his schedule and we were able to record everything in a few weekend trips! Easy to work with, very laid back atmosphere, and he will help you capture the sound you are looking for! Thank you again, Sean!"

"Sean at Clarity produced a song for our band. It came out just how I envisioned, and then some. We got some killer drums tones and guitar sounds, and there was a plethora of gear to choose from! Vocals turned out amazing. Sean was super easy going and patient to work with, and he has great ideas if you’re stumped on a part or a lyric. Very reasonably priced too! Thanks!"
